Blessed Assurance

Hebrews 10:22 "Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water".

Memories:
I remember growing up going to a small country church, sitting on wooden pews and singing this song over and over again.
On one occasion we had the Azusa Choir come to our church and sang Fannie J. Crosby songs and "Blessed Assurance" brought warm smiles because we were familiar with the words and the truth of the song.

The first verse tells me that Jesus is mine and I have lots to look forward to because I am heaven bound.  It is because I am an heir because I was purchase by God through the blood of Jesus.  As a Christian (His own) I am filled with His Spirit.

The second verse tells me being in submission to the will of the Father brings delight.  I am looking forward to the time I will meet my savior.  As one of His own, I am watching and waiting for the return of Jesus to bring me into eternal fellowship with Him.

The third verse tells me that perfect submission brings resolution to all of my past.  In my Savior, happiness is mine being filled with goodness and love is my expression of Christ in me.

This is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all ways and in all of my days.

Thoughts:
When I sing this song I can't help thinking back but also forward to when I can sing this again with all those that I remember in the congregation.

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.  God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” (I John 4:16-18)

Song by Lyrics by Fannie J. Crosby and Phoebe Knapp

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine;
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest;
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
